Baoshan (保山) prefecture includes Tengchong (腾冲), famous for its volcanic hot springs, ancient border town of Heshun, and WWII Flying Tigers history. Located on the Myanmar border, the area offers a mix of geothermal wonders and Silk Road heritage.

Tengchong has over 80 hot springs and 97 volcanoes. The Hot Sea (热海) geothermal area features boiling springs and steam vents. Heshun Ancient Town preserves traditional architecture and a library founded in 1928.
