Chaozhou 潮州 — Teochew Heartland — Ancient City of Culture
Chaozhou (潮州) is the cultural heart of the Teochew (Chaoshan) people, who number over 25 million worldwide. This ancient city preserves traditional architecture, temples, and crafts that have been passed down for centuries.
The city is famous for its wood carvings, porcelain, and opera. Guangji Bridge, a unique floating bridge, and Kaiyuan Temple, a 1,200-year-old Buddhist site, are highlights. Teochew cuisine originated here.
